Using the alchemy of my own hands.

Hi! My name is Amanda Moore-Karim, the cool kids call me luxy. I’m a fashion sociology professional focusing on developing culturally driven content through fashion direction and literature. With dual educational background in Accounting (Howard University) and Fashion Merchandising (London College of Fashion), I relocated to New York City for almost ten years to see where destiny’s wind would guide me. Working as a fashion freelancer, I have worked within the fields of Retail Buying, Beauty Merchandising, Wholesale, Planning & Allocation, eCommerce Styling and Editorial Journalism. The latter two fields made the largest impact on my ongoing career as a wardrobe and literary artist.

My work is inspired by the social studies of racial relations within the fashion and beauty industry. Previous editorial journalistic topics I wrote about include cultural representation, marketing propaganda in the guise of diversity and inclusion, and promotion of underrepresented marginalized talent. This pursuit birthed my socially-conscious fashion magazine, Luxy Haus, where I self-produced 8 issues on a quarterly basis from 2017-2019. In 2022, I transitioned my writing style into creative literature and released my first literary anthology who will protect me?— an intersection of my two crafts (fashion direction and creative literature) focusing on chakra alignment for Black women. The goal of my work continues to develop cultural discussion on the sociological human development of African descended persons with a mission to promote racial healing for said persons.
